On May 18, 2018 he suffered a heart attack.
On Saturday, June 9, 2018, Pastor Al was called home to Heaven.
He was a pastor for 46 years. He and his wife, Connie, were married for 48 years and have 4 grown children and 8 grandchildren.

Who are Parish Builders?
They are adults—single, married, or of retirement age, preferably graduates of The Association Free Lutheran Bible School (AFLBS) who have served on a summer team, volunteering any amount of time assisting the Pastor of an AFLC Home Missions congregation through teaching and outreach.
They serve a congregation anywhere from 6 months to several years!
What do Parish Builders do?
They assist in areas like teaching, visitation, canvassing, working with youth, special outreach events…wherever there is a need!
They support the pastor and his family, and encourage the congregation members to become more vitally involved and assume leadership.
Our Parish Builders are actively involved in Weekly Ministries, including Sunday Morning Worship, Sunday School, Youth Group and Kids’ Club to mention a few!
Where do they live?
Wherever there is an AFLC Home Missions Gathering or congregation!
They locate housing, move into a local community, and find ways to integrate into the lives of people around them.
Our most recent parish builders lived in an apartment a few miles away from Calvary Free Lutheran.
What about money?
Parish Builders are not paid a salary, but they are commissioned with an umbrella of prayer and guidance by AFLC Home Missions.
Some Parish Builders raise support, others find part-time jobs.
Calvary has been blessed to have had two amazing young women as Parish Builders for the last few years,
but they have recently moved on to the next step in their lives:
