"When Jehu came out to the servants of his master, they said to him, "Is all well? Why did this mad fellow come to you?" And he said to them, "You know the fellow and his talk." - 2 Kings‬ ‭9:11‬

Elisha had sent a young prophet to anoint Jehu as king of Israel. When he arrived, Jehu was sitting with the other Generals in a planning session. The prophet took Jehu into an inner room, anointed him, prophesied over him and then, as instructed, he opened the door and ran off.

When Jehu came back to the military council the other men greeted him with the words recorded in this verse. “Is everything okay? What did that crazy guy want?”

The prophets of God are accused of being crazy. It happened back then and it still goes on today. Those who stand on God’s Word and proclaim it are often considered at least a little bit odd if not completely nuts. We're considered out of touch with where the world is going. We are told that we’re “on the wrong side of History.

But the truth is that God’s Word will always come true and those who steer their lives by it have an inside track on what’s really going on and what’s coming next.

God is still on the throne. He will steer the events of this world the way He has said it would go. History is His Story.

Lord, I know that You have seen the end from the beginning. You know what’s coming next, even when I don’t. I know I can trust You to keep me in whatever comes. Keep me close! Amen.
