"And we all, with unveiled face, beholding the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from one degree of glory to another. For this comes from the Lord who is the Spirit." - 2 Corinthians‬ ‭3:18‬

The veil to which the Apostle refers here is the veil that covers the hearts of people who read the Bible or hear God’s Word but fail to understand it. It makes no sense to them. Their hearts are covered by the veil that keeps them from understanding. Some even read the Bible a lot and think they know everything about it, but it turns out that what they think they have found is just an excuse for their sin. A strange, confused life results.

In verse 16, Paul said, “...but when one turns to the Lord, the veil is removed.” When Jesus comes in to our heart, the Holy Spirit opens our understanding and we find that suddenly the Bible not only makes sense but it’s fascinating. We can’t get enough of the wisdom of God. Every day as we read we find new gems of glory that brighten our life. “Because the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom.” (Verse 17). With Jesus in our heart, we have freedom from that veil; freedom to understand God’s Word, apply it to our lives, and grow closer to Him by His power that works true repentance and faith in our life. And so, as we behold the face of Jesus, we are bring transformed day by day into His likeness by His Word. The glory of His presence shines through, into us and out through us. Lord Jesus, thank You for taking away that veil of confusion as I read Your Word. Open my eyes by Your Holy Spirit as I seek Your face here. Transform me by Your glorious power to become a little more like You today, as You apply Your Word to my life. Amen. Pastor Dan Giles
