"Whoever is wise, let him understand these things; whoever is discerning, let him know them; for the ways of the Lord are right, and the upright walk in them, but transgressors stumble in them." -Hosea‬ ‭14:9‬

God’s ways are right. That means that if we disagree with Him, we’re wrong. But we just love to defiantly sing, ”I Did it My Way.”

If I have a hard time walking in God’s ways it’s because of my transgressor’s heart, that still wants to do things “my way,” and stumbles in God’s way; I can’t seem to find my footing walking "in paths of righteousness.”

Of course, we’ve just been deceived into thinking it’s my own way. The most successful lie that Satan has ever perpetrated on the human race is that rebellion against God makes me an independent, strong, “free thinker.” It’s really the devil’s way, not mine at all.

God promises to receive us when we return to Him, to “heal our apostasy” as Hosea says in this same chapter. If you are tired of falling down and getting beaten up “doing it my way,” and return in repentance to Him, God will forgive you for Jesus’ sake and His Holy Spirit will be there to teach you to walk again.

Lord God, you’re always right. Forgive me, for Jesus’ sake, for thinking I know better than You.  Straighten me out. Teach me how to walk upright in your ways. Amen.
