"Teach me your way, O Lord, that I may walk in your truth; unite my heart to fear your name." - ‭Psalm‬ ‭86:11‬

"...he is a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways." - James‬ ‭1:8‬

We suffer from a divided heart. We doubt at the same time that we trust. We want to follow Jesus but we are still attracted to sin. How can we expect to be successful in the Christian life as long as this goes on?

In this Psalm, David recognizes his struggle with this very thing and so he prays, “unite my heart to fear Your name.” So do we pray, as well.

Lord, give me singleness of purpose. Deliver me from a wavering faith. Keep me back from presuming on Your grace and dallying with “little” sins. Unite my heart to follow You wholeheartedly, in Jesus’ name. Amen.
