"Whoever is wise, let him understand these things; whoever is discerning, let him know them; for the ways of the Lord are right, and the upright walk in them, but transgressors stumble in them."

‭‭Hosea‬ ‭14:9‬

The ways of the Lord are right. This fact never changes. But there are two other facts observed in this verse as well.

Those who are discerning and upright walk in the ways of the Lord. Transgressors, on the other hand, will stumble over His ways.

So long as we live in rebellion against God’s way of doing things, transgressing His rules and doing things our own way, we constantly find that God’s ways are a stumbling block and an obstacle in our life. God’s rules keep getting in our way and tripping us up. It can make life pretty miserable.

When we finally give up and accept the fact that His ways are right and get on board with His plan, determine to do life God’s way, we discover that life “works.” Life is actually good. Even when things don’t go the way we expected, it doesn’t matter, because things are going God’s way - and that’s all that matters.

The best part of it all is that God’s way includes forgiveness for all our misguided attempts to prove our wrongheaded ways right. Our rebellion has been covered by the blood of Jesus and the moment we turn, God is ready to restore us in His love. That’s just His way.

Lord God, You are right; Your ways are right. Forgive my transgression of Your ways and restore me to Your plan. Help me to discern and follow Your way in my life today, in Jesus’ name. Amen.
