“But solid food is for the mature, for those who have their powers of discernment trained by constant practice to distinguish good from evil.” - Hebrews‬ 5:14

How do you develop discernment? According to this verse our ability to discern is trained and developed by practice, as we distinguish between good and evil, choose the good and reject the evil.

If we fail to practice discernment, we’ll never develop it.

God is rich in mercy and forgiveness and receives us for Jesus’ sake. Spiritual growth happens as we learn to hear His voice, respond to it, and follow the leading of His Holy Spirit. Our understanding of His Word grows as we practice this skill.

Without it, we continue to be spiritual infants, no matter how old we are or how long we’ve been a Christian.

Lord Jesus, open my heart with true discernment, to distinguish truth from error, right from wrong and good from evil. Give me Your grace to choose good and reject evil, and grow in my walk with You by Your grace. Amen.
