"O Lord, be gracious to us; we wait for You. Be our arm every morning, our salvation in the time of trouble....The Lord is exalted, for He dwells on high; He will fill Zion with justice and righteousness, and He will be the stability of your times, abundance of salvation, wisdom, and knowledge; the fear of the Lord is Zion's treasure."

‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭33:2, 5-6

Could there be a more appropriate word from God for our day than this?

It starts with a prayer of repentance and a plea for forgiveness: Oh Lord, be gracious to us.

Then it becomes a prayer for help and deliverance: Be our arm every morning, our salvation in time of trouble.

Then comes a declaration of faith:  The Lord is exalted, for He dwells on high.

An assurance of answered prayer: He will fill Zion with justice and righteousness.

A reminder that our relationship with Jesus is the source of peace:  He will be the stability of your times, abundance of salvation, wisdom, and knowledge.

And finally a reminder that the one precious thing the Church has to offer is not peace through  accommodation to the World or compromise with its ways, but the very opposite:  the fear of the Lord is Zion's treasure.

Lord, keep our hearts clear. We want peace and stability, we want healing and deliverance. The World’s way is peace through surrender and compromise with evil but we know that all of these things are ours only when we stay close to You and faithful to Your Word. Be gracious to us; we wait for You. Amen.
