“Who is a God like you, pardoning iniquity and passing over transgression for the remnant of His inheritance? He does not retain His anger forever, because He delights in steadfast love...You will cast all our sins into the depths of the sea.”

‭‭Micah‬ ‭7:18-19‬

God delights in steadfast love. It delights Him to show steadfast love to us. Because of his steadfast love, He forgives. He just can’t stand to stay angry with his beloved children.

He’s like a husband who just can’t stand the rift that separates him emotionally from his beloved wife after an argument, or like a Dad who suffers when a child has to be disciplined and can’t wait to hold him in his arms again and tell him he’s forgiven and still beloved.

That yearning is no less when the child is an adult who has turned away from her parents; with steadfast love we long for her to be restored to us.

God’s delight in steadfast love moved Him to find a way to “cast all our sins into the depths of the sea” by sending His Son to take the punishment you had earned.

He constantly seeks the ones who are lost. “The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases.”

Heavenly Father, thank You for Your steadfast, never-failing love. Thank You for finding a way to restore me to Yourself. Let that same steadfast love fill my own heart with a readiness to forgive, for Jesus’ sake. Amen

Pastor Dan Giles
