"For the Lord spoke thus to me with His strong hand upon me, and warned me not to walk in the way of this people, saying: 'Do not call conspiracy all that this people calls conspiracy, and do not fear what they fear, nor be in dread. But the Lord of hosts, Him you shall honor as holy. Let Him be your fear, and let Him be your dread.'"
Isaiah 8:11-13
These days there are conspiracy theories everywhere. Both political parties accuse the other of being secretly in league with foreign powers. There are rumors of billionaire financiers and “dark money,” rumors about the origins of the virus, conspiracy theories about what will happen if one candidate or the other wins or doesn’t win the election. It’s enough to make your head explode.
God says, "don’t get all caught up in these conspiracy theories, or worry whether or not they’re true. Don’t be afraid of what everyone else fears. Fear God alone."
God is holy. He is exalted far above politics, economics, parties and nations. The whole United Nations Organization is a flash in the pan, a passing phenomenon.
No matter who wins or what happens in the next election, God will still be Lord of the Universe and continue to rule over all. The Lord Jesus will return on schedule; the day of judgment is set, and God in his mercy and grace still offers forgiveness, peace, healing, and restoration to all who turn in repentance and faith to Jesus.
Our Heavenly Father will still be providing for and listening to the prayers of His beloved children. Don’t be afraid.
Lord, your peace surpasses all comprehension. You are Lord of all, King of Creation, and my loving Savior. Your promises are true and certain, and You keep Your Word. Our stability is in You. Our confidence is in Your Word alone. Keep my heart close to you. Amen.
