Thanksgiving Day 2020 Devotional

"Sing praises to God, sing praises! Sing praises to our King, sing praises! For God is the King of all the earth; sing praises with a psalm! God reigns over the nations; God sits on his holy throne."

‭‭Psalm‬ ‭47:6-8‬

Have you noticed that believers thank and praise God for the very things that unbelievers resent and refuse to recognize?

We praise and thank God for His provision, for national security and peace, for good neighbors, a happy family life, gainful employment, good health and prosperity, good government and the list goes on.

We even thank God for and pray for bad governing authorities, because we know that God reigns over all and that “there is no authority except from God, and those that exist have been instituted by God”‭‭ (Romans‬ ‭13:1‬).

Thanksgiving grows out of a heart of faith. Gratitude is evidence of a good relationship with the giver.

Lord, thank you for godly Christian believers who set the example and left us this legacy of Thanksgiving, 399 years ago.

Today we thank, praise and worship You, the Lord of heaven and Earth, for your kindness, goodness and faithfulness to us. Thank You, Lord, for giving us all that we need and for never abandoning your children, in Jesus’ name, amen!
