"The Lord is merciful and gracious, slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love... He does not deal with us according to our sins, nor repay us according to our iniquities." - Psalm‬ ‭103:8, 10‬

Merciful.

Gracious.

Slow to anger.

Abounding in steadfast love.

This is how God describes Himself, through his prophet, King David. The theme that repeats all through this Psalm is, "Bless the Lord,” that is, speak good things about Him. Tell how wonderful He is!

Saying “Bless the Lord, Oh my soul,” commands my mind, my will and my emotions to report how good He is. If my way of thinking blesses Him, my will (I decide to do it) blesses Him, and if with my emotions I bless Him, the whole tenor of my life is a witness to the goodness of God.

Lord, You have been so good to me. Instead of dealing with me as my sin deserves, You have treated me with kindness and mercy. Your love abounds to me every day. I want to bless You with my thoughts, my words, and my life today, in Jesus’ name. Amen.
