"The LORD says to my Lord: "Sit at My right hand, until I make Your enemies Your footstool." The LORD sends forth from Zion Your mighty scepter. Rule in the midst of Your enemies!" - Psalm‬ ‭110:1-2‬

This messianic Psalm describes the Kingdom of Christ today. Jesus is seated at the right hand of God, from where He rules His Church, His Kingdom on earth, and that’s the way it will be until every last enemy has been brought into submission. The day is coming when “every knee will bow, of those in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue will confess that Jesus is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.” (Philippians 2:10-11)

The Bible say that “the last enemy to be destroyed will be death.” (I Corinthians 15:25)

So the Lord Jesus rules His Church on earth today in the midst of enemies; an invisible, spiritual Kingdom, ruled from the throne of heaven, surrounded and beset by enemies here on earth. We are a Kingdom at war, in enemy-held territory.

The world, the devil and even our own sinful flesh continue to rage against Him. Death continues to menace every one of us while we live on this earth. But Jesus is Lord of all, ruling His faithful Kingdom in the midst of its enemies.

When death, the last enemy of Christ and His Kingdom, is destroyed, this Kingdom at war will be at peace and finally victorious. Meanwhile, we celebrate our victory by Faith, knowing it is ours because Jesus is Lord.

Lord Jesus, rule in my heart, even now, as I struggle with the enemies that surround us. I’m so looking forward to the day when Your final victory is mine to experience. Meanwhile, keep me close. Amen.
