Remember your leaders, those who spoke to you the word of God. Consider the outcome of their way of life, and imitate their faith.”

‭‭Hebrews‬ ‭13:7‬

It was two years ago this week that our Pastor, Al Monson, suffered a heart attack. After almost a month in a coma, he went home to heaven. We’ll see him again there one day.

I had known Al for many years and it was a gift from God that he should be my Pastor for ten years as we left our work in Latin America. Our souls were tired and needed to be refreshed, sitting under the teaching of God’s Word, rightly divided and lovingly served up for us.

His tender care for the souls in his flock, his desire to see others come to know Jesus, and his constant concern for his own family were an inspiring example and a comfort to us. We miss him acutely still.

“Consider the outcome of his life and imitate his faith,” the Apostle said. Amen to that! May God give us grace to do that.

Lord Jesus, in Your divine wisdom, You give the gift of pastors and teachers to Your Church. Thank You for them. Give us more pastors like Al; we need them.  Amen.
