"My soul yearns for you in the night; my spirit within me earnestly seeks You. For when Your judgments are in the earth, the inhabitants of the world learn righteousness."
Isaiah 26:9
One of the reasons we long for God’s Word and His presence to be the guiding factors of our national life is this: it makes for righteousness, for goodness in human relationships, for peace and for loving treatment of one another in society. Life is just better when Jesus is Lord.
A couple of verses earlier, the prophet wrote: "The path of the righteous is level; You make level the way of the righteous. In the path of Your judgments, O Lord, we wait for You; Your name and remembrance are the desire of our soul." (Isaiah 26:7-8)
Whether we’re thinking of the nation, the community, the family, or the individual life, the same is true. Life is better where Jesus is Lord. When we turn our back on Him, life descends quickly into chaos.
Lord Jesus, let me live in the light of your Word and your presence. Guide my family, our community and our country in the good way. My spirit longs for You, to know You more. The desire of my soul is that You would be known here. Lord, let it be so! Amen.
