"I will walk with integrity of heart within my house; I will not set before my eyes anything that is worthless." - ‭‭Psalm‬ ‭101:2-3‬

David had learned by hard and painful experience the danger of indulging in sinful thoughts when no one else was around; that was what led to the disastrous fall with Bathsheba. Even alone in his own house he knew that he couldn’t afford to entertain sinful thoughts and desires.

As we follow Jesus today we find the same need to be on our guard when no one else can see us, to not set worthless, sinful temptations before us, to keep our integrity especially in the privacy of our own home. If anything, it’s even more critical today than ever, since the world and all its temptations are piped into our homes at the touch of a button. This approach to our own private life, of determining to maintain our spiritual integrity in private, will keep us out of so much trouble. The mind set on sinful things will always eventually lead us into sin; the mind set on good and pure things leads to life and peace. Lord, give me strength to be diligent in this regard; to keep the environment of my own home pure, free of sinful opportunities that would entice me. Fill my mind and heart with good and healthy things that will help me on the way of eternal life, in Jesus’ name, amen. Pastor Dan Giles
