"All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work." - 2 Timothy 3:16-17
By means of His Word, God prepares us for the work He has lined up for us to do. He makes us “complete, equipped for every good work.”
The word translated “complete” here means to be “just exactly right,” as in the perfect amount, the perfect moment, or the exact fit. It can be used in the sense of fruit that is at the perfect moment of freshness. In the King James Version of the Bible the word is translated “perfect.”
God’s inspired Word works in our heart to prepare us so that we are just right, perfectly suited for the next thing He has for us to do, the next “good work,” whatever it is.
Wherever He takes you, whatever good work He puts into your hand to do next, you will find that as you live in His Word He has been preparing you for it. You are the right person at the right time for that task. Just trust Him and obey His Word, and you’ll find that in spite of all your imperfections and inadequacies you are the right one for the job. He knows what He is doing.
Lord Jesus, You are in charge of my life. Keep me in Your Word. You teach me what’s right. You show me where I’m wrong. You forgive and correct me when I get off track, and You prepare me for what’s ahead. I trust my life to You, even when I can’t trust myself. Keep me close, Lord. Amen.
