"Now therefore in the sight of all Israel, the assembly of the Lord, and in the hearing of our God, observe and seek out all the commandments of the Lord your God, that you may possess this good land and leave it for an inheritance to your children after you forever." ‭‭1 Chronicles‬ ‭28:8‬ It doesn’t make any difference that we have changed the definition of good and evil and convinced ourselves that what we are doing is good. Sinful hearts will always rationalize our sinful choices and try to call them good. That cuts no ice with God. He is the judge. He alone decides what’s good and what’s evil and rewards each one according to his works. “Seek out the commandments of the Lord.” Don’t take the word of politicians, teachers, doctors, or religious leaders who have cooked up an explanation that makes sinful behavior appear to be clever or reasonable or right. What does God call good? What does He call evil? That’s all that matters. Lord God, I confess that my own sinful heart is only too ready to accept the world’s lies and rationalize the sin that my flesh desires. Write Your Word on my heart so that it orients my moral compass and keeps me on track. Forgive the times I have listened to lies and doubted Your Word. Cleanse the thoughts of my heart, in Jesus’ name. Amen.
