"Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect." - Romans‬ ‭12:2‬

The will of God is good. It’s acceptable both to God and to people of good will. It’s only objectionable to those who reject what’s good in their rebellion against God - which seems to be quite a large and growing part of our population. The World rejects the good and acceptable will of God.

The will of God is perfect. The Greek word translated perfect here means something that’s complete, fulfilled, mature, grown up into its intended fullness and reached its proper, fitting expression. So the will of God is the grown-up, mature choice.

So, of course, it takes practice to discern the will of God. It takes growing up and spiritual maturity. As our mind is renewed, learning God’s thoughts as revealed in His Word, we begin to think God’s thoughts after Him. Our mind is exercised in thinking God’s way instead of being conformed to the world’s way of thinking. We learn to discern the will of God as we grow in this way of thinking God’s way.

Lord, keep my mind saturated in Your Word. I want to think Your thoughts, follow Your reasoning so that I develop the ability to discern Your will. Keep me close to You and fill me with the pure truth of Your Word. Amen.
