"There is a river whose streams make glad the city of God, the holy habitation of the Most High. God is in the midst of her; she shall not be moved; God will help her when morning dawns."

‭‭Psalm‬ ‭46:4-5‬

"Jesus stood up and cried out, 'If anyone thirsts, let him come to me and drink. Whoever believes in me, as the Scripture has said, "Out of his heart will flow rivers of living water."' Now this he said about the Spirit, whom those who believed in him were to receive."

‭‭John‬ ‭7:37-39‬

Whatever happens on this earth or in this life; no matter how difficult or how crazy things get; no matter who won the election or what kind of government we find ourselves living under, this remains true: there is a river of life that flows out of the hearts of God’s people that refreshes us. It makes the City of God, the Church of the Lord Jesus, overflow with joy.

The peace and joy that the Holy Spirit gives are flowing in and through and out of us to refresh the community that surrounds us with the knowledge of God. We can rest, knowing that no matter what comes, God will step in and come to our help at the appointed time. We have his promise: at the break of dawn He will appear.

Lord, fill us with Your Holy Spirit. We need You now. Let Your presence flow through us so that knowing You and making You known in the place where You have planted us, we are filled with Your joy and peace as we wait for You. Keep us close, in Jesus’ name. Amen.
