"If a man should go about and utter wind and lies, saying, 'I will preach to you of wine and strong drink,' he would be the preacher for this people!

I will surely assemble all of you, O Jacob; I will gather the remnant of Israel; I will set them together like sheep in a fold, like a flock in its pasture, a noisy multitude of men. He who opens the breach goes up before them; they break through and pass the gate, going out by it. Their king passes on before them, the Lord at their head."

‭‭Micah‬ ‭2:11-13‬

The prophet Micah first points out the shallowness and vanity of a church that has embraced and endorsed sin and listens to preachers who tell people what they want to hear and never address their wicked behavior. Then he gives comfort to the faithful remnant of believers, assuring them that the Lord Himself will provide them with faithful leaders who will lead them out of that apostate assembly, under His direction.

We’ve seen this pattern repeated over and over again throughout history. It’s happening again now. Churches around the world that have abandoned the Word of God and made up their own set of teachings that endorse sin are losing members, as the faithful leave to find better options.

Lord, grant that we remain true to the pure teaching of Your Holy Word. Give us faithful preachers and teachers, shepherds who feed and care for your flock and lead them by Your direction. Never let us stray. Keep us close, in Jesus’ name, amen.
