In the book of Lamentations, the Prophet Jeremiah recounts the terrible hardships the people of Judah endured as God’s judgment finally fell on Jerusalem. As he describes some of the things that happened, he says, “My soul is bereft of peace; I have forgotten what happiness is!” (Lamentations 3:17)
Do you ever feel that way? Not many of us will ever go through what Jeremiah endured, but sometimes hard things come to us that leave us feeling discouraged and broken almost beyond hope, just as he did.
Jeremiah goes on: “But this I call to mind, and therefore I have hope: The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; His mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is Your faithfulness.”
(Lamentations 3:21-23)
How good it is to know that the steadfast love of the Lord never ceases! How good to remember that His mercies never come to an end!
Lord, Your faithfulness to me Is beyond measure. Your mercies are renewed to me every morning; I count on them day by day. I know You will never leave me nor forsake me. Thank You for being with me now, Lord Jesus.
