“And I tell you, ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you.”
Luke 11:9
This statement comes right in the middle of the Lord’s teaching about prayer and it lies at the very heart of what He was teaching.
Ask! If we don’t ask, why should God answer? God wants us to ask Him for what we need. “For everyone who asks receives.”
Seek! If we don’t see or hear God’s answer to our prayer, look for it. Did we miss something? What is God’s will in this matter? Seek His face. Where is God in this? “The one who seeks will find,” He promised.
Knock! You don’t have to wake God up; He’s always listening: “His ear is open to your cry.” But sometimes, for reasons of His own, He wants us to get serious about our prayers, and we have to be insistent. So, knock on the doors of Heaven. Keep knocking until you get your answer. And you have His promise: “to the one who knocks it will be opened.”
Lord, teach us to pray! Amen.
