“The way of the Lord is a stronghold to the blameless, but destruction to evildoers.”

‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭10:29

Why do ungodly people hate the teaching of God’s Word? Why can’t they just live their lives however they want and let others, who want to live righteous and godly lives, do what they want?

While those who love God’s Word find comfort and peace in His ways, their very existence is a looming threat to the ungodly. Just seeing people live peacefully and being happy and secure in their homes and families by God’s blessing, reminds them how miserable they are and that the end of the road they are following is destruction.

Happiness and innocence really get up their nose, so they attack the source of these things. Besides that, a wicked lifestyle is not a benign and harmless thing; it demands victims to be exploited.

The good part is that those who choose God’s way are under God’s protection. They live in the stronghold of God’s blessing. Their future is secure and by God’s grace a Home in heaven has been prepared for them.

God’s way begins with receiving His forgiveness for Christ’s sake. It continues with taking up our cross and following Jesus. It leads to eternal life and a Home in heaven.

Lord Jesus, keep my feet on Your way. Surround me with Your care and keep me close as I follow this road. I know where You’re leading me, and I’m looking forward to getting there. I trust Your promises, Lord. Amen.
