"Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus." - Philippians‬ ‭4:6-7‬

The peace of God; a peace beyond human reason and understanding, a peace that mystifies the watching world; is linked to prayer. Not just prayer in general but prayer that puts my requests about everything that’s going on into God’s hands, and entrusts them to His care. Prayer that surrenders my requests to Him so that I can follow them with thanksgiving.

Thanksgiving even before I see the results, because I know that the Lord of the Universe, who is my loving Father, has heard my prayer, knows my need, and cares about me. He will not ignore it, and He has all the power to do what’s best for me.

In that I can rest. No wonder the peace that surpasses understanding is sure to follow.

Father, I put my cares into Your hands today. Do what You think best in my life, my family, and my country; I entrust them to Your loving care and rest in knowing that You, Dear Father, have heard me and that you love me as Your own child, in Jesus’ name. Amen. Pastor Dan Giles
